The methods commonly used for adjusting steam temperature on the flue gas side include tilting burners, flue gas recirculation, and flue gas baffles. These methods can regulate the steam temperature of both the superheater and the reheater (which will be discussed later). However, since modern boilers often use more flexible water spray attemperation for superheaters, and it is economically unwise to use water spray attemperation for reheaters, the methods for adjusting steam temperature on the flue gas side are usually employed to meet the requirements of reheated steam temperature regulation.

By changing the position of the flame center along the height of the combustion chamber using tilting burners, the heat absorption of the combustion chamber's heat transfer surfaces and the flue gas temperature at the combustion chamber outlet can be altered, thereby achieving the purpose of regulating steam temperature.
