Breeding centipedes is a low-investment, high-output emerging industry with broad prospects, making it a very promising project.

Firstly, centipedes are valuable medicinal herbs with massive market demand. Due to the widespread use of fertilizers and pesticides, as well as mountain mining, their survival environment has been severely damaged, leading to a sharp decline in wild centipede populations. Market supply cannot meet demand, causing prices to soar. The acquisition price by pharmaceutical departments has risen from 0.1~0.2 yuan per piece in 1990 to over 0.6 yuan per piece, yet still fails to satisfy market needs. The continuous rise in prices is inevitable. These phenomena indicate that centipede breeding holds a broad market prospect.

Secondly, centipedes are omnivorous animals that enjoy various animal meats, insects, fish and shrimp, as well as all kinds of fruits, vegetables, and grains. The most critical equipment for temperature-controlled breeding is a heated greenhouse with a certain area that can provide heating, temperature control, and good insulation conditions. These greenhouses can be newly built or existing ordinary houses or plastic greenhouses can be renovated. Regardless of the type, all greenhouses must meet the following four principles: First, they must be economically practical; Second, they must have heating and insulation capabilities; Third, they must maintain good ventilation; Fourth, the structure must be scientifically reasonable and convenient for management.

Daily management in temperature-controlled breeding is basically the same as in normal-temperature breeding, differing in three aspects: First, attention must be paid to controlling the temperature, maintaining it between 20℃ and 36℃; Second, water evaporation accelerates, necessitating timely replenishment of sufficient water; Third, due to the high temperature in the greenhouse and relatively poor ventilation, leftover feed must be promptly cleared to prevent spoilage and unpleasant odors.
