GTR Belt Breakage
On the noon of May 13th, while traveling at a speed of 100 km/h, the "straw man wallet" incident occurred, and then the belt suddenly broke. When I took it to the dealership for replacement, the boss said that a normal belt should last between 20,000 to 25,000 kilometers; however, this one broke after only 15,000 kilometers. The boss also mentioned that it was due to the large spring (1500 rpm). Later, on the morning of May 17th, when they disassembled it to inspect, they found signs of aging on the belt. That evening, on the same stretch of road, the belt broke again... Could the hardness of the large spring affect the lifespan of the belt?
Hello, there are two scenarios with your car that could lead to the belt breaking easily: 1. There's a gap in the middle of the clutch plates causing the belt not to work properly in its designated position. 2. The belt is not an OEM part. For GTRs, it’s best to use genuine parts – meaning the belt must have the YAMAHA logo on it to be truly authentic. Generally, belts from reputable companies can last 25,000-30,000 kilometers. So, what the boss said about the large spring being too stiff and thus easily snapping the belt at 1500 rpm – that shouldn't be the case... Therefore... It’s good for you to know... Right... You must ensure it’s a company-made belt, otherwise, it might break again... (Though it's quite expensive.) Hopefully, this resolves your problem. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Thank you.
