BEIJING, June 3 (according to foreign media reports) — At a wildlife center in Kenya, a 12-year-old Russian girl named Elizaveta Tishchenko has formed a close bond with a two-ton rhinoceros named Max.
Although wild rhinos are notoriously fierce and can easily kill a person with just a stomp, Max, who is five years old, is extremely gentle. Tishchenko shows no fear of the massive animal and enjoys stroking its rough skin. Max also seems to enjoy the girl patting its back.
Additionally, Max will sometimes roll over on the grass, allowing the young girl to pat its belly as if it were a dog.
Recalling their first meeting, the girl's father said: "Tishchenko even went up and tugged at the rhino’s tail, but Max didn’t get angry at all; he just kept eating his grass. They both seemed comfortable together, and that’s how they became friends."
