According to reports (by reporter Qiu Rihong, with contributions from Zhou Feng and photography by Jiang Haoqiang), on the night before last, the Liuyue police station of the Longgang Public Security Bureau, in conjunction with the detoxification center, successfully cracked a drug trafficking case. Two suspected drug traffickers were apprehended, and on the spot, 100 grams of crystal methamphetamine, one small automobile used for the crime, and one machete were seized. During the on-site anti-drug operation, the fierce criminals actually confronted the police on the street with their vehicle, but were eventually subdued.
At 4 PM on the afternoon of the second day, the Detoxification Center of the Longgang Public Security Bureau obtained a lead: a group of drug dealers would be conducting a drug transaction near Liuyue in the Henggang district. During the investigation, the police discovered that the drug dealers frequently changed the location of the transaction. After wandering along the road for six hours, they chose an area near the Shengdebao Hotel in Liuyue, Henggang, for the deal.
At around 10:30 PM that night, the undercover police observed two suspected drug traffickers appearing in the Shengdebao parking lot. After meeting, the two men acted very cautiously. They conversed through the iron fence by the roadside and then exchanged the handbags they were carrying. One man stayed where he was, pretending to smoke while observing his surroundings, while the other walked toward a parked small car. The police immediately moved in, surrounding the two suspects from all sides. They swiftly captured Xie, who was standing there smoking, and found 100 grams of crystal methamphetamine in the handbag he was carrying.
Simultaneously, the other suspect sensed something amiss and hurriedly got into the car to flee. The police officers stationed outside quickly drove to block him. Seeing no way out, the suspect stepped hard on the gas pedal and accelerated directly towards the police car. A strong collision occurred between the two vehicles, injuring the left forehead of the police officer and causing bleeding. After the collision, the suspect abandoned the car and attempted to escape, but was tackled to the ground after running only 100 meters by the pursuing police officers. They seized one small automobile used for the crime, one machete, and several drug packaging bags.
Upon review, both suspected drug traffickers, Xie and Zhang, confessed without reservation to their criminal acts of drug trafficking. Among them, Xie had been arrested by the Dongguan police in April 2007 for intentional injury and sentenced to six months of fixed-term imprisonment. This case is currently under further review.
