Our staff reporter Peng Kefeng - At around 2:40 PM yesterday, on the roof of a commercial and trade building in Shijingshan District's Moshi Kou Xi Li, a young woman attempted to jump from the third floor after failing to obtain alimony from her boyfriend. Fortunately, she was saved by the combined efforts of firefighters and police officers.

Eyewitnesses said that at the time of the incident, a young woman dressed in a black T-shirt and blue jeans climbed onto the roof of the commercial building, standing on the railing outside the edge of the third-floor platform, incessantly cursing. Subsequently, passers-by called the emergency number to report the situation. The Shidian and Gucheng fire stations and nearby police station officers successively arrived at the scene and set up a cordon. Some firefighters set up rescue air cushions downstairs, while others went up to the roof with the police.

It is understood that at the time, the woman leaned against the railing on the roof, emotionally agitated and restless. Police officers and a firefighter stood nearby, patiently inquiring about the woman’s condition and trying to counsel her in a conversational manner. During the conversation, the police and firefighter gradually approached her. Seizing the moment when the woman was slightly distracted, they quickly rushed forward, hugged her, and brought her down from the roof.

Informed sources said that the woman had been in a romantic relationship with her boyfriend back in their hometown, and later the two came to Beijing to work. Recently, her boyfriend proposed a breakup, which she refused to accept, and after failing to obtain ten thousand yuan as alimony, she became desperate and attempted to commit suicide by jumping off the building.
