By reporters Yingjun Xie and Zhe Dong - At 5 PM the evening before yesterday, Sheng ShanShan, a 17-year-old who lived in Changping town, jumped from the fifth floor rooftop and died instantly upon hitting her head.

This tragedy was caused by an argument between father and son. The reason for the argument was just that on the 6th of this month, Mr. Sheng joked with his son in public about introducing him to a girl, which made the son very angry and led to a "cold war" between father and son until the day before yesterday when they were permanently separated.

The Sheng family lived on the fifth floor of the incident's apartment building. Mr. Sheng bitterly regretted that his son had just come from relatives' place to Dongguan, but he never expected such a tragedy would happen in just over ten days.

The reason for Sheng ShanShan's suicide was actually due to a trivial quarrel with his father. On the 6th of this month, Mr. Sheng took his son to work odd jobs at a factory in Wanjiang. In front of his co-workers, Mr. Sheng said he wanted to find his son "a partner," even pointing to a girl in the workshop saying he would "introduce her to ShanShan." Unexpectedly, Sheng ShanShan immediately turned red in the face and started arguing with his father right there, and they even began shoving each other in the workshop. After the argument with his father, Sheng ShanShan felt humiliated and left the factory to return home in Changping, leading to a "cold war" between father and son.

Mrs. Wu, the mother, said that her son Sheng ShanShan thought his father was "never serious," making him feel embarrassed. Ever since returning home on the 7th, Sheng ShanShan lost his appetite and was always gloomy. Mrs. Wu wanted to take leave to care for her son, but Sheng ShanShan refused. She never expected her son would commit suicide by jumping off a building.

Currently, the police have preliminarily ruled out foul play.
