1. What are Google Sitelinks?

For someone who frequently uses Google, the following situation might not be unfamiliar: when searching for a specific keyword, you may notice that the website ranked first shows not only its title, webpage description, and URL, but also other titles from the site in the form of links. This display takes up space equivalent to the top 3 normal results, making it more likely to attract user attention and clicks.

[Search "Yahoo" - Yahoo website display]

This situation has been around on Google for quite some time, but only recently has there been a clearer explanation provided by the Google Webmaster Help Center.

2. Official Google Explanation of Google Sitelinks

The links shown below some sites in our search results, called Sitelinks, are meant to help users navigate your site. Our systems analyze the link structure of your site to find shortcuts that will save users time and allow them to quickly find the information they’re looking for.

We only show Sitelinks for results when we think they’ll be useful to the user. If the structure of your site doesn’t allow our algorithms to find good Sitelinks, or we don’t think that the Sitelinks for your site are relevant for the user’s query, we won’t show them.

At the moment, Sitelinks are completely automated. We’re always working to improve our Sitelinks algorithm, and we may incorporate webmaster input in the future.

Links displayed under some websites in the search results, known as Sitelinks, are intended to help users better access your site. Our system analyzes the link structure of your site to discover these shortcuts, which help users save time and quickly find what they need.

We only display Sitelinks when we believe they will be valuable to our users. If your site's structure does not allow our algorithms to find high-quality Sitelinks, or if we do not think these links are relevant to the user's search query, we will not display them.

Currently, Sitelinks are entirely automatically generated. We continue to work on improving our Sitelinks algorithm, and in the future, we may involve webmasters in this process.

3. Conditions for Obtaining Google Sitelinks

According to Google, the main purpose of Sitelinks is to help users find the information they need in a faster and simpler way. However, Google only provides Sitelinks for websites that rank first for certain keywords. These keywords are typically website names, trademarks, or brands.
