An old man was seen strolling along the railings of the Yangtze River Bridge.
The speed at which the old man walked along the railing was no slower than an ordinary person walking on a wide road.
Netizens have nicknamed him "Martial Arts Brother."
An old man in his fifties was actually stepping along the railing of a large bridge, walking as if he were taking a leisurely stroll... This was not a scene from a martial arts movie but rather something that Mr. Zhang, a mobile photographer, captured at 7:00 AM on September 3rd on the Shibanpo Yangtze River Bridge. "It scared me to death!" Mr. Zhang said that the speed at which the old man walked along the railing was no slower than an ordinary person walking on a wide road.
"From afar, I saw someone standing on the bridge railing, and I thought I was seeing things," Mr. Zhang recalled. That morning, while riding his bike across the Yangtze River Bridge, he saw this old man wearing a checkered T-shirt, jeans, and rubber shoes. He did not appear to be attempting suicide; in fact, he was holding a bag and calmly stepping along the bridge railing, walking from the north end toward the south end. Mr. Zhang quickly took out his camera and captured a series of pictures.
Meanwhile, on Dayu.com, many netizens claimed they had witnessed this scene and posted their experiences online. Many netizens called the old man "Martial Arts Brother." Speculations about the old man varied widely: 31.75% of netizens believed he was a "martial arts master" from the folk community, 20.54% believed "Martial Arts Brother" was exercising his courage, while the rest believed it was too dangerous regardless of the reason.
Yesterday, the reporter went to the Shibanpo Yangtze River Bridge and found through measurement that the width of the bridge railing was only 26 centimeters. Moreover, there was a protruding pier every seven steps along the railing, meaning the old man had to step over these piers while walking. Looking down from the railing edge, one could see the Yangtze River's ceaselessly flowing waters beneath the bridge. Walking along the railing was truly an "impossible mission." Subsequently, the reporter contacted the bridge management personnel, who said they had never before noticed any citizen walking along the bridge railing. However, since such an incident had occurred, they would strengthen patrols to prevent such dangerous behavior from happening again. He also mentioned that if citizens noticed similar situations, they could contact the bridge administrator or call the emergency number 110. Furthermore, Lawyer Zhu Zicheng from Chongqing Longta Law Firm stated that if the old man refused to heed the advice of the bridge management personnel, then in the event of an accident, the old man would bear full responsibility.
