Microsoft's $44.6 Billion Yahoo Bid

Microsoft Corporation announced today that it has made an offer to the board of directors of Yahoo! Inc. to purchase all outstanding common shares of Yahoo! at a price of $31 per share, for a total cost of $44.6 billion. The acquisition is planned to be completed in the second half of 2008. With Yahoo!'s stock price currently at a new low and Microsoft needing to compete with Google, according to internal U.S. government sources, this acquisition will pass the antitrust review.
