It has been a long time since I last watched the "Hundred Schools Forum", and every time I hear about the wild history later, I am curious and find it tasteless.
In October, while enduring the daily torment in Beijing, I accidentally came across Mr. Zeng's lecture on "The Mystery of the Yi Jing" that I once appreciated. I was overjoyed! His humorous and erudite teaching made me temporarily forget my oppression.
I carefully wrote down my thoughts after listening, just for note-taking.
Why is the Yi Jing worth our study?
--- The Yi Jing is a system that is entirely based on natural development. Why has it become the main source of Chinese philosophical thought? What kind of book is the Yi Jing? How can we read and understand the Yi Jing? What practical significance does studying the Yi Jing have for us modern people?
Confucius said, "A person can promote the Way, but the Way cannot promote the person" (a person must actively decipher the code of life). Perhaps this was the original reason for its creation?
Lecture One: What is the Yi Jing
Fu Xi's Eight Trigrams (composed of images and numbers, it is a wordless celestial book). Fu Xi was truly a person who served the people seven thousand years ago (hehe). He taught us how to view the world = looking up + looking down + wide-angle = observing this universe.
Zhou Yi = using the concept of cyclical recurrence to observe the changes in the universe. Taking nature as our teacher, following the principle of action, and using nature to guide and standardize science.
It can be used to correct our superficial understanding. It possesses mysterious morality, allowing us to seek common ground while reserving differences.
Start understanding the Yi Jing from Yin and Yang. Lecture One: What are Yin and Yang
The sixty-four hexagrams in the Yi Jing only include Yin and Yang. Yin and Yang are the most fundamental elements that constitute all things in the universe.
