In Hailun City, Heilongjiang Province, a father and son were on the run after committing theft. During their escape, they were intercepted by the police. Not only did they refuse to surrender, but they also smashed the police car. Recently, following a prosecution by the Hailun City People's Procuratorate, the father, Chu Yuchun, was sentenced by the Hailun City Court to three years in prison for obstructing official duties and six years for theft. With multiple crimes combined, he received an eight-year prison sentence and a fine of 20,000 yuan. The son, Chu Changshan, was sentenced to five years in prison for theft, two years for obstructing official duties, and three years for rape. With multiple crimes combined, he was sentenced to nine years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan.
Chu Yuchun is a habitual offender who had previously been sentenced to two years in prison for theft. After being released, he didn't repent and even took his son Chu Changshan along to commit theft. Around 22:00 on November 4, 2010, Chu Yuchun and his son drove their own mini-bread van to a village in Fengshan Township to steal when they were discovered by the owner, Mr. Zhang. The father and son threatened Mr. Zhang with a crossbow they carried and then fled in their vehicle. Mr. Zhang immediately reported the incident to the police, and officers from the Fengshan Police Station quickly responded and attempted to intercept them at a nearby intersection. Chu Changshan not only refused to stop but instead accelerated and sped past. However, they were forced to stop due to oncoming traffic. After getting out of the car, the two men not only resisted arrest but also threatened the police with iron rods and crossbows. They punctured the tires of the police car and damaged its body before fleeing back home. On November 14, 2010, the two were apprehended at home.
