Currently, in home decoration, common fire-resistant materials used in kitchens include flame-retardant fabric, fire-resistant thermal insulation cotton, and styrofoam boards.

Flame-retardant fabric is generally used for the safe fire prevention of lighting fixtures and carpentry decorations. This fabric, similar to a woven bag, allows high-quality flame-retardant fabric to show no changes on its surface when the fire source is removed; it can even be touched without feeling any heat. "In current decoration materials, over 90% use wooden studs for suspended ceilings and laying floors!" Experts warn that these hidden wooden studs must undergo fireproof treatment by applying fireproof coatings on their surfaces. Some carpenters reduce costs by using regular paint or mixing putty powder with glue to impersonate fireproof coatings, which cannot truly meet fire prevention regulations.

As for fire-resistant thermal insulation cotton and styrofoam boards, both are insulating materials commonly used in decorative partition walls and thermal insulation walls. However, their fire resistance effects differ greatly. Expert experiments have shown that within the first 5 seconds of being exposed to fire, the thermal insulation cotton shows almost no change, only slight yellowing where the flames concentrate. As the burning time extends, the area exposed to concentrated fire starts to turn black. After 15 seconds of burning, a slight odor is emitted, but the yellowed and blackened areas remain concentrated around the burned section, with the surface layer remaining undamaged.
