"The earthquake in 2008 was too terrifying, scaring the aunts and uncles of our monkey family into hiding deep in the mountains. Now it seems there's no problem, Old Sun is back!" Yesterday, the macaques that disappeared for two years due to the earthquake in Pengzhou City's Longmenshan Town reappeared in Hui Long Gou. Led by the monkey king, 28 macaques of all sizes descended from the mountain to look for food.

"Quick, look, there are monkeys on the opposite mountain!" A tourist who noticed the movement on the opposite mountain shouted. A majestic male monkey slowly climbed down from the middle of a slope nearly a hundred meters high. "It's the monkey king, he came to scout the way," Lü Yongqiang, the monkey feeder at Hui Long Gou scenic area, told the reporter.

In the blink of an eye, the monkey king arrived at the foot of the mountain. A pile of peaches on a small earth slope caught the attention of the monkey king. While cautiously observing the surroundings, it carefully selected peaches. After a hearty meal, the monkey king climbed onto the roof of a two-story abandoned house. The monkeys on the mountain saw the "signal" sent out by the monkey king, and soon a group of monkeys surged down the mountain, both male and female, large and small macaques rushing down the mountain to enjoy the peach feast prepared for them.

"These monkeys lived in the Hui Long Gou scenic area before the earthquake. There were more than a hundred monkeys in Hui Long Gou before the earthquake, but they all ran away during the earthquake. These 28 monkeys have just returned," Lü Yongqiang is well acquainted with the monkey group that reappeared in Hui Long Gou, "This one has a rather irritable temperament, that one just gave birth to a baby monkey..." Lü Yongqiang knows the habits of this group of monkeys inside out.

Lü Yongqiang, who has been feeding monkeys for ten years, is very fond of this group of monkeys. Every day, he would bring fruits and corn into the mountain to feed the monkeys, "Every day I need to feed about 60 catties of corn and fruit, after the monkey group returned, seven baby monkeys were born." The appearance of the monkey group also attracted many tourists who specifically drove here to feed the monkeys. Reporter Li Yi, Photographer Li Yang.
