World famous ancient city site of Babylon and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon
The Hanging Gardens, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, also known as the Hanging Gardens. In the 6th century BC, it was built by Nebuchadnezzar II of the Neo-Babylonian Kingdom in Babylon for his homesick queen Amyitis. It no longer exists now. The gardens were said to be built using a three-dimensional gardening technique, placing the garden on four levels of platforms, constructed with asphalt and bricks. The platforms were supported by columns 25 meters high and had an irrigation system where slaves continuously turned handles connected to gears. Various flowers, grasses, and trees were planted, looking from afar as if the garden was suspended in mid-air. In Babylonian literature, the Hanging Gardens remain a mystery, with not a single mention of them.
