Police publish hotline for reporting "brick, sand and stone bullies" - investigate every case found
Xinhua News Agency (reporter Xiao Juan, correspondent Xia Hongbo, Chen Long, interns Wang Ke, Huang Guoyingzi) - In order to force the sale of cement, four men surrounded and beat a female merchant who was operating in construction materials such as sand, gravel, and cement. Yesterday, Wuhan police announced several cases involving "brick, sand and stone bullies" and published the hotline number 85399192, inviting the public to actively report any criminal activities related to "brick, sand and stone bullies."
On April 9 this year, the Tangjiadun Police Station of Jianghan Public Security Bureau received an emergency call from a citizen stating that several men were beating a woman outside the main gate of the Guocui Xiangshe residential complex at Tangjiadun. The police quickly responded and arrested two suspects, Chen Mou and Wang Mou, on the spot. Investigations revealed that the beaten woman, Yu Mou, was a merchant operating in construction materials such as sand and cement within the residential complex. Suspects Chen Mou and Wang Mou confessed to forcibly stacking cement inside the storefront rented by Yu Mou at the main gate of the residential complex. That evening, their accomplices, Jiang Mou and Du Mou, were also arrested. After thorough investigation by the police, all four suspects - Jiang, Du, Wang, and Chen - were criminally detained.
On the afternoon of the 11th, at the entrance of the Shuangcheng Aerospace residential complex in Jiang'an District, Huang Mou and another individual forcibly blocked and threatened the delivery personnel of sand, but were caught by the police who had been lying in wait. They were punished with fifteen days of administrative detention and fined one thousand yuan.
This year, the police have investigated and resolved 122 cases of "brick, sand and stone bullies" at construction sites and newly built residential complexes, handling 187 suspects according to law. Emergency calls regarding these issues have decreased by 27.9% compared to the same period last year. The police stated that for any illegal activities affecting construction work and public safety caused by "brick, sand and stone bullies," they will investigate every case found and handle it accordingly. Furthermore, they will strictly enforce accountability checks. If local public security organs fail in their duties, leading to ineffective crackdowns on "brick, sand and stone bullies" resulting in serious public security problems, relevant personnel will be held accountable.
