Interior System Expert - Interior Decoration Common Knowledge:

(1) Avoid excessive complexity, which is a rather common phenomenon. Originally, the living space is not spacious and there are many people in the household. However, the homeowners add furniture and various items either out of necessity or for convenience. As a result, the indoor space is filled with furniture and various items, leaving people to only use the "remaining corners" for movement, leading to a situation where people are dominated by objects, reversing the priorities. One must realize that piecing together the advantages of various parts will result in a chaotic house. A refined room does not need to be large, and the fragrance of flowers does not need to be abundant. It’s better to give up some nice decorations, preferring less over more, striving for simplicity and quality without trying to cover every aspect. Always maintain the dominant position of people, ensuring that normal indoor activities and the proper use of furniture are prioritized.

(2) Avoid extravagance and blindly pursuing luxury, which might be the biggest misconception in home decoration. Blind faith in high-end materials, moving the style of hotels and bars into homes, can dazzle people but make them feel uneasy or even reluctant to sit or lie down. This may also lead to associations with nouveau riche. In ideal family decoration, furniture made from wood is preferable; it doesn’t have to be necessarily made from expensive woods like red sandalwood or nanmu—plywood works just fine. Furniture paint only needs a few layers of gloss varnish after being sanded. Currently, exposing the natural texture of wood is very popular (as it should be). In some foreign countries, furniture emphasizes the original color of wood, so they don't even use paint, opting instead for a light wax coating on the surface. This reflects humanity's admiration for nature and pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty. The color of wood under the light is warm and inviting, making the home atmosphere more intimate. Using certain polyester paints to cover the wood grain and replace it with fake patterns (such as marble patterns) is really counterproductive. In floor decoration, laying tiles in the kitchen and bathroom, and wooden floors in the bedroom and living room is already the highest level. If the wooden floor in the living room is prone to damage, you could lay a few fiber carpets on the main traffic routes. Other options for the living room floor include ground spirit coatings, quartz floors, and thick plastic floors. It is not advisable to use granite or marble, as this is not only wasteful but also uneconomical. For wall decoration, using waterproof coatings, spray plastic, or magnetic powder is already quite good. There's no real need to use wallpapers (which get dirty easily and age quickly), marble, or full-wall wooden panels. At most, a wooden baseboard around the walls would suffice. Wall colors should be simple and lighter, creating an elegant background that highlights the prominence of furniture and decorations. Home rooms should avoid ceilings, as they look neither appropriate nor aesthetic and may make people feel oppressed.
