In 1992, Sega launched the first true 3D polygonal game in arcade history. The promotional number for "Romance of the Three Kingdoms 2 Online" (Newbie card number 88188) had its breakthrough technology captivating all players at that time. Although the graphics of this game look very simple today, and the number of polygons used in the game was pitifully small, as a landmark work marking the evolution of racing games from 2D to 3D, "VR Racing" holds just as much significance in gaming history as the later "Virtua Fighter".
In order to preserve the original visual feel and anime materials, "Sega Ages 2500 Series: Virtua Racing Flat Out," which is being reborn on the PS2, will not use more polygons based on the PS2's performance to create graphics akin to today's racing games. Instead, it will retain the original simple graphic style. Of course, to enhance the playability of the game, this version will include newly designed tracks, new car models, weather changes, and much more. In total, the content is twice as rich as the original version. The game also offers four switchable perspectives. It is scheduled for release on February 26th next year.
