The public welfare film exhibition viewing group activity mainly organizes group audiences to watch films in different themed public welfare film exhibitions, carrying out targeted dissemination of film culture. The content includes five parts: pre-screening explanation, watching films, symposiums, visiting exhibition halls, and writing movie reviews. From explaining the historical background of the movies before screening, to watching the movies, then to multi-party symposiums with experts, creators, and audiences, and finally visiting the movie history exhibition hall, it comprehensively and multi-dimensionally cultivates the audience's interest in excellent Chinese film culture, inspires them to write movie reviews and impressions, and publishes excellent manuscripts in the journal and website of the China Film Museum.

In order to promote excellent film culture and allow more audiences to feel the charm of films, especially to carry out targeted film cultural dissemination and patriotism education for college, middle school, and primary school students, and to run a large social classroom well, the China Film Museum launched the public welfare film exhibition viewing group activity in February 2009, closely surrounding the public welfare film exhibition.
