From the current situation, that is, based on what we currently consider to be the limits of human capability, interstellar travel is entirely impossible. Even if lifeforms could survive for long periods, it remains impractical. Based on this fundamental perspective, I believe that only through some other means—when there's the ability to traverse large spatial scales in a short time—can interstellar travel become realistic for individual lifeforms with lifespans of only a few hundred years.
It is evident that this involves an understanding of space and time. From the classical spacetime view recognized under the Newton-Cartesian coordinate system to the modern multidimensional spacetime concept advocated by Hawking, the most essential difference lies in advancements in our understanding of the fundamental properties of spacetime, such as its homogeneity, symmetry, and distortion. When humanity makes a breakthrough in this research, large-scale space travel will be just around the corner.
