The establishment of the "Anti-Baidu Alliance" website has made Baidu the first host of an anti-establishment website in China! Why did the Anti-Baidu Alliance, upon its founding, have the audacity to shout slogans against Baidu with a rallying cry of "losing the hearts of webmasters, how can one gain the world"?
A once obscure ordinary netizen who was devoted to writing, was driven to what extent that he would break all bridges and resolutely embark on a path of resistance against Baidu? In fact, he had no ambition for fame or influence; he only wanted a little bit of fairness, demanding the most basic right to survive online from a monopolistic enterprise. However, even such a low demand could not be met, and to this day, he continues to persist. Perhaps, before this, he would never have thought that he would become irrevocably entangled with Baidu.
As The IT Era Weekly conducted in-depth interviews, the grudge between "Tà Xuě Wú Hén" (a pseudonym) and Baidu was revealed to everyone.
Website Blocking Incident
In the winter of 2004, "Tà Xuě Wú Hén" opened the backend of his "Mermaid Literature Community" website. With a glimmer of hope, he installed a keyword generation tool. This small software could make the website easier to be indexed by search engines, thereby effectively increasing the website's clicks.
What he didn't expect was that this small act of cheating would plunge his "Mermaid" into an irreversible situation - being blocked by the Baidu search engine (not appearing in Baidu's search results)! And up to now, the shackles around his neck have not been removed!
After "Mermaid" was blocked by Baidu, "Tà Xuě Wú Hén" realized that he had committed a great taboo of search engines. For this reason, he promptly and thoroughly cleaned up this program, sent a sincere letter of apology to the Baidu administrators, promised not to repeat the mistake, and requested another chance to be re-indexed. A few days later, he received only a cold, automated reply. "Tà Xuě Wú Hén" wrote again to Baidu, but the reply was exactly the same as the first one. In other words, Baidu did not manually handle the unblocking issues of blocked websites; once a netizen makes a misstep, it may truly become an eternal regret, with little chance of revival.
