This is equivalent to 3721 unconditionally offering its technology for free, and on top of that, making a losing deal, which is truly foolish. However, turning it around, Microsoft is a big tree. Although FF still has a certain penetration rate internationally, in China, the browser market is almost entirely dominated by Microsoft's IE, while 3721 is just a very small local company. Unconditionally giving away its own technology, or even doing business at a loss, seems quite unwise in the short term, but it can take advantage of Microsoft's powerful strength to carve out a vast territory for itself. And for Microsoft, it didn't originally value the Chinese market much; if someone was willing to offer something for free, why not take it? Thus, the two companies quickly reached an agreement and signed a cooperation contract lasting several years.
