The main characters in this story were originally only two: Xiaonei and Hainei. However, while writing this blog today, a third protagonist emerged - Zhanzuo.
Let me slowly recap, so I can calm down a bit (if you really don't have time or are too lazy to read the text, I still hope you'll check out the pictures on page 3):
A few years ago (I can't quite remember which year or month), I noticed a large number of promotional posters around campus called "5Q", claiming that you could find classmates from high school, middle school, or even elementary school there. It seemed pretty advanced, so I registered. I found it was indeed more Web 2.0 than ChinaRen's alumni directory, but back then, there weren't many users on it, so I left it alone.
After some time, I discovered a place called "Xiaonei". Its interface was exactly the same as Facebook's. After registering, I found it lacked any new ideas, so I left it alone again.
Some time later, 5Q held an event on campus, offering free cola for registering an account (I heard in other places they offered burgers for registration; if I had the choice, I'd prefer the burger). So, I used my previously registered account to exchange twice for two cans of cola (some classmates exchanged four cans with one account, I guess I'm pretty decent). Afterwards, the number of people using 5Q at school gradually increased. Thus, I enthusiastically recommended it to classmates from high school, middle school, or even elementary school. I also excitedly uploaded some photos and added some friends until later when I slowly realized some people's homepages had changed.
They were filled with all sorts of Flash animations and mouse pointers like shit, big and small, layered on top of each other;
The background was like little images covered in excrement, tiled across the entire screen;
Occasionally, some eerie background music would automatically play, like ghost calls;
Some unknown CSS made some link texts change from black to red and from 12px to 20px when the mouse hovered over them, truly startling;
There were all sorts of web special effects codes popular five years ago, floating here and flashing there...
