No one cares about your credit card receipt signature

We all know we're supposed to sign receipts when we use our credit cards, but does anyone actually check the signature? The answer is: never! To test this theory, John Hargrave began signing his receipts in all sorts of bizarre ways, trying to get the attention of cashiers. Like hieroglyphics, doodles, and even little squares that made no sense at all. But it didn't matter what he did, the cashiers still happily rang up the sale with a smile. So then he tried using text to "poke" them. "Please verify my ID," "This card is stolen," "I found this card in the trash." Of course, this again confirmed the fact that no one checks your signature. There was only one exception. It happened when he bought three HDTVs for $16800, signed "NOT AUTHORIZED" on the electronic signature pad, and then got escorted out of the store by the manager.
