Mozilla Corporation released an update on Wednesday for its popular Firefox browser, addressing 12 vulnerabilities, seven of which were rated as "critical."

The company stated that the most severe of these vulnerabilities could be exploited by attackers to gain control over affected computers. Mozilla issued a security advisory for each vulnerability patched in this Firefox update.

According to Mozilla, Firefox 1.5.0.5 resolves these issues, and the company has started using Firefox's update mechanism to push the new version to users. In addition to these security fixes, the update also includes improvements to stability and some changes for the Frisian language version aimed at Dutch users.

On its website, Mozilla described Firefox 1.5.0.5 as a security update and part of the company’s ongoing effort to provide customers with a secure internet experience. The company recommended all users upgrade to the latest version.

Security monitoring firm Secunia classified this update as "extremely critical," just below its highest severity level.
