On December 4, 2007, Beijing Kingsoft Corporation Limited, a well-known domestic information network security manufacturer, held a grand launch event at the China News Building Hotel for the much-anticipated release of Kingsoft Antivirus 2008. At the launch site, Ge Ke, Vice President of Kingsoft, solemnly announced that to address the increasingly severe Internet security threats, Kingsoft and Tencent would comprehensively establish an Internet security strategic alliance in 2008. Ge Ke stated, "The rapid development of the Internet has led to the premature arrival of the Trojan era. On one hand, there is an urgent need for innovation in traditional anti-virus thinking, and on the other hand, strategic cooperation with Internet companies will also become a new attempt by anti-virus manufacturers to combat Internet viruses."
