December 24 news from China Software Info Net, Skype CEO Tony Bates published an article on his blog stating that the Skype service has stabilized and about 90% of users have been able to use basic functions normally.

On Wednesday, due to some Windows client errors, a large number of "super nodes" in Skype failed, leading to a global server outage. According to Skype, the second day of the failure saw 20% fewer users than usual.

Bates said, "Currently, voice, video, and instant messaging services have all returned to normal, but offline instant messaging and group video functions have not yet resumed." We have identified the cause of the server outage and believe it was not caused by a malicious attack.

It is reported that Skype will also send Skype credit coupons via email to all Pay As You Go and Pre-Pay users, allowing them to enjoy 30 minutes of free calls to any landline worldwide. For active Skype subscribers, Skype will give them an extra week of subscription service.
