In response to yesterday's widely reported "CCTV Exposes Taobao's Five Crown Store Selling Counterfeit Goods, Calls for Resistance Against Fakes," Jack Ma, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alibaba, publicly responded to the accusation of Taobao counterfeiting. He stated that he feels wronged as Taobao does not produce counterfeit goods; rather, it is easier to detect counterfeit goods generated in society on Taobao. Facing such issues, Alibaba has no choice but to confront them head-on.
According to reports, many of these online stores are five-crown stores on Taobao. CCTV used an online store named Jingyi Qiu Jing as an example, stating that this store is already a five-crown seller and is preparing to reach the gold crown level. The store sells clothing and accessories claimed to be original single genuine products. Investigators purchased two items from the store posing as customers and then submitted them to the relevant trademark right holders for authentication. The result showed that both items were counterfeit trademarked products.
Ma responded by saying: "I feel wronged. Taobao does not generate counterfeit goods; it is just easier to detect counterfeit goods generated in society on Taobao. I have no way to eliminate these counterfeit goods because I am not a law enforcement agency. I cannot send them to prison; I can only shut down their stores and hand over the relevant materials to the public security department."
However, why do all the controversies come to us? There's no way around it because we are at the forefront of addressing these counterfeit goods and false products. As long as you are at the forefront and doing these things, you will inevitably face such situations. Do you retreat or solve the problem? In my view, we can only solve the problem because we are on the road. We don't want to go back, nor do we want to stop. You must move forward against the current. This is an unavoidable choice.
