Chen Baoguo, who specializes in the research field of Internet of Things, said that Internet of Things is the most fashionable and hottest industry today, developing this industry has been written into the Chinese government work report in 2010, and has been defined as China's strategic industry. But currently many people in China do not know the true meaning of Internet of Things, only define industries related to them as the Internet of Things with a superficial understanding of it, showing a trend of blind men groping an elephant. And some interest groups for their own benefit, switching concepts arbitrarily, taking advantage of the Internet of Things concept for speculation. Chen Baoguo made the above statement at the China-ASEAN Internet of Things High-Level Forum. In response to the various interpretations currently appearing in the Internet of Things field, Dr. Chen Baoguo elaborated on the meaning of the Internet of Things from nine aspects such as characteristics, elements, key technologies, applications, etc. at the forum, and gave a keynote speech on "Internet of Things and Regional Economic Development". In 2009, the wave of Internet of Things seemed to sweep across China overnight. After the official announcement of listing the Internet of Things as a national strategic industry development, it was warmly pursued by local governments, industries and capital markets in China, and places rushed to introduce policies and plans related to the Internet of Things. The speculation of the concept of the Internet of Things in the capital market even reached a crazy level. According to the current prediction of the industry, China's Internet of Things industry will reach 20 billion yuan RMB this year, with an annual compound growth rate of more than 30%. Accompanying this wave of speculation, there are many versions of interpretation and definition of the Internet of Things, and many controversies have also appeared in the industry. Chen Baoguo said that currently in the field of Internet of Things, the gap between China and developed countries in the world is not big, they are at the same starting line, but if there is a deviation in understanding the connotation and development direction of the Internet of Things, the opportunity for development will be lost. "If so, the lessons learned by China in the Internet may be replayed in the era of the Internet of Things. It is understandable for blind men to grope an elephant, but pointing a deer and calling it a horse will ruin the country and harm the people!" The 2010 China-ASEAN Internet of Things High-Level Forum co-sponsored by China RFID Industry Alliance and China Information Industry Chamber of Commerce was held in Nanning, Guangxi on the 22nd.
