At noon on August 5, citizens reported that many communities and business districts to the east of Jinan's East Ring Road suddenly lost power, causing much inconvenience. The power outage caused some elevators in commercial areas of Licheng District to stop running. Many people were trapped inside the elevator of Building A at Jinan's East Ring International Plaza due to the blackout.
When the reporter called the 12345 Citizen Hotline for confirmation, a staff member said that at 12:05, an accident occurred on Xinhua Line (high-voltage line) in Licheng District. The accident caused blackouts in multiple residential areas including Jiabao Road near Red Mansion, Xingfuyuan, Hongyuan community, Licheng District’s Putao Garden community as well as commercial office buildings such as East Ring International Plaza. Relevant personnel have arrived at the scene for emergency repairs, but it is still uncertain when the lines will be restored.
