Police advise citizens to clearly note the purpose on copies

Overdrafted, criminalized, impersonated.

Who in daily life has not used their own ID card copy? Buying a house, renting, handling banking affairs, registering accommodation, going abroad for tourism... handing over an ID card copy without any precaution can easily be exploited by criminals. Police remind citizens that they can detail the purpose on the copy, and if there is an accident in the future, it will be easier to verify handwriting and assign responsibility.

For your information,

◆ The finer the annotation, the better, but do not obscure the ID number and name.

◆ It's best to use a blue ballpoint pen.

◆ Some strokes should intersect or touch the characters on the ID card.

◆ Usually write three lines, and at the end of each line, draw a horizontal line to prevent others from adding text.

◆ When discarding an ID card copy, tear it up first.

Not annotating leads to three major risks:

Going to the bank to handle credit card overdrafts.

Being used by others to start a company and engage in criminal activities.

Becoming a tool for fraudsters to impersonate identities.

Recently, "The Correct Annotation Method for ID Card Copies" became very popular online. Many citizens who reposted it even labeled it with the slogan "You'll regret not reading this for the rest of your life." On just one social interaction website, more than 120,000 people paid attention to the post.

The netizen who wrote this post reminded everyone that ID card copies must have annotations marked. The writing method is usually divided into three lines, such as when applying for fund business, you could write:

Only provided to ×× Bank ——

Application for ×× Fund Deduction ——

Invalid for other uses ——

The netizen reminded that a blue ballpoint pen should be used, some strokes should cross or contact the characters on the ID card, and at the end of each line, a horizontal line must be drawn to prevent others from adding text.

As long as an ID card copy is required, follow this method.

Filling out government forms is the same. Additionally, any blank fields in the application, such as supplementary card applications, additional insurance purchases, buying a second fund, or applying for a mobile phone number, these empty fields must be crossed out to prevent illegal operators from filling them in.

The relevant text must be signed within the range of the ID card, but do not obscure the ID number and name. The finer the annotation, the better.

Police: Discard ID card copies after tearing them up.

Several grassroots police officers also support annotating ID card copies. Officers suggest that citizens can detail the time, limited to which unit, and what specific purpose. In case of unexpected situations in the future, it will be easier for the police to verify handwriting and determine responsibility. The police also introduced that ID card copies are best discarded after being torn up.

The police introduced that losing ID card copies or failing to add annotations carries three risks: going to the bank to handle credit card overdrafts; being used by others to start a company and engage in criminal activities; becoming a tool for fraudsters to impersonate identities.

Citizens:

Submitted hundreds of copies

Not once added annotations

What proportion of citizens have the habit of annotating ID card copies? A random survey showed that this proportion is quite small. Wei Sheng, who works at a cultural company on Tianhe East Road, said that every time he goes to photocopy his ID card, for convenience, he photocopies 10 copies at a time, sometimes using them all up in a year. Wei Sheng said: "From the time I got my ID card until now, more than ten years, I don't know how many copies I've submitted, definitely over a hundred, and not once did I add any notes, just photocopied and handed them in."

Xiaowen, a sophomore at Jinan University's Zhuhai College, said that during two years of university, he had submitted countless ID card copies, and indeed hadn't noticed that he should add annotations. However, he felt that adding annotations might be a bit troublesome, and with current advanced computer PS technology, it may not be completely secure.

Some units that request copies have prepared annotation stamps.

Yesterday, at the Dade Road Mobile Business Hall, a window staff member told reporters that they also encourage customers to annotate their ID card copies. "If the customer doesn't annotate, we will stamp it with this seal." The person showed a seal that clearly read "This copy is only for mobile services, invalid for photocopies."

Case:

Copies misused four times in a year

If ID card copies are stolen by people with ill intentions, combined with the fact that some system review procedures are not yet perfected, it can easily lead to situations where citizens mysteriously owe debts or are investigated by the police.

In February this year, the Futian Procuratorate of Shenzhen announced a fraud case: Deng某某 used a picked-up ID card copy to apply for a bank credit card and then proceeded to make purchases. Deng某某 was legally prosecuted for credit card fraud.

This case relates to lost ID card copies: Deng某某 picked up an ID card copy named Luo某某. Later, employees of Deng's company collectively applied for Shenzhen Ping An Bank credit cards, so Deng mixed Luo某某's ID card copy in to apply for the credit card. After obtaining the credit card, Deng made several purchases with it. Later, the scheme was exposed because Deng greedily wanted to increase the credit limit, and the bank discovered the truth during verification.

Another citizen had his ID card copy misused four times consecutively between August 2008 and July 2009, resulting in credit cards being issued by four banks, accumulating an overdraft exceeding 20,000 yuan.

Selling copies online

Can specify region and age

A clear indication of the danger of not annotating is the numerous advertisements selling ID card copies online.

Yesterday, a person selling ID card copies named "Mr. Ye" was contacted by the reporter. "Mr. Ye" advertised online claiming to be an internal bank employee: having a large quantity of ID card copies available for selection. This person even designed an advertisement: whether you're applying for various bank credit cards/transit cards/funds/renting property/member cards/application forms/various documents, one thing is indispensable — that's an ID card copy!

"Mr. Ye" told the reporter that he could provide brand-new first-generation and second-generation ID card copies, guaranteed to be clear and absolutely genuine. The price was 20 yuan per copy, "bulk orders can get discounts"; "if the customer specifies region, gender, and age, the price will be calculated separately." "Our IDs are acquired in bulk, with no issues regarding the source."

Regarding the "goods" mentioned by "Mr. Ye," Guangzhou police officer Xiao Li judged that they likely originated from industries and units that frequently receive citizens' ID card copies. "Such as credit card application booths at banks, property management, real estate sales offices, insurance companies, telecommunications/mobile service providers, securities companies, etc."
