Wanning, June 22nd - (Reported by Liangzi with photographic documentation) A dispute over a two yuan bus fare led to a Wanning midibus driver being brutally beaten to death by six assailants in broad daylight and in front of passengers. Nearly a hundred police officers were deployed to capture three suspects, while the other three fled. In the early hours of today, the three fugitives surrendered themselves to the Haikou police, one of whom was the main culprit, another his brother, and the third his nephew.

At around midnight today, Wang Moujun (33 years old, from Xinzhou Farm in Wanning), along with his brother Wang Mouhai (42 years old) and nephew Hua Mou (31 years old), surrendered to the Haikou police. They were the remaining three suspects in the case of the Wanning midibus driver who was publicly beaten to death, with Wang Moujun being the main culprit. After the incident, Wang Moujun and the other two had fled to Zhanjiang. Following their surrender, the three suspects were escorted back to the Wanning Public Security Bureau by the Wanning police.
According to Wang Moujun's confession, he worked at a stone quarry in Xinzhou Farm. At around 9:00 AM on the 19th, after purchasing parts for a crusher in the county town of Wancheng, he prepared to take a bus back to the quarry. He boarded a midibus with the license plate number Qiong C8280x. After departure, just as the bus was nearing the highway entrance, it turned back towards Wancheng to pick up more passengers. Wang Moujun said that when the bus returned to the Zhongyangpo gas station, he demanded to get off. The driver asked him to pay two yuan as fare: "You've ridden this far, you should pay two yuan!" He refused to pay, leading to an argument between the two. The driver closed the door, preventing him from getting off. A few minutes later, the driver returned with another man. This man was aggressive, demanding that he hand over the two yuan to the driver. Realizing that this man was not someone to be trifled with, he became afraid and handed over the two yuan. The aggressive man then threw his luggage off the bus.
Subsequently, Wang Moujun took another bus back to Xinzhou Farm. After returning home, he recounted the incident to his brother Wang Mouhai. Wang Mouhai scolded him for being useless, asking why he didn't call for help.
Wang Moujun said that the more he thought about it that night, the angrier he became, feeling humiliated and unable to let go. Thus, the next day, Wang Moujun, Wang Mouhai, his nephew Hua Mou, and three friends of Wang Mouhai armed themselves with sticks and committed this tragic crime.

At around 11:30 AM on the 20th, near the 19th team area of Xinzhou Farm on Provincial Road 304 Niu Ying Line, Wang Moujun stopped the same midibus with the license plate number Qiong C8280x that he had taken the previous day, leading a group of five others.
Wang Mouhai blocked the driver's door from below the vehicle, while the others rushed onto the bus. Wang Moujun's nephew Hua Mou beat the driver Li Zechuan with a stick before getting off the bus with Wang Moujun. Below the bus, Wang Moujun struck the driver Li Zechuan on the head with a stick again, causing immediate blood flow from Li Zechuan's head, which slumped against the window. Upon seeing the bleeding head of Li Zechuan, Wang Moujun and the others immediately fled the scene.
After the six assailants left, the passengers called 110 to report the incident. By the time the doctors arrived, the driver had already died from severe cranial injuries. After receiving the report, Zhang Zhaoteng, member of the Standing Committee of the Wanning Municipal Party Committee and Director of the Public Security Bureau, paid great attention and promptly instructed Deputy Director Ye Biping in charge of criminal investigation and the criminal investigation team to solve the case as soon as possible.
