CCTV's "Today's Law" reported: Around 7:12 am on April 25, 2010, a truck hit-and-run accident occurred on Busa Road in the Nanshan area of Longgang District in Shenzhen. A woman and a stroller (with a baby inside) were hit, causing injuries to the mother and a four-month-old male infant named Lulin was dragged under the large truck.

The stroller was found but the baby's whereabouts were unknown.

About 7:12 am on April 25, 2010, a hit-and-run accident involving a large truck happened in the Nanshan area of Longgang District. A woman and a stroller were hit, injuring Ms. Li and dragging a four-month-old boy under the truck.

Around 10 am that day, the police preliminarily identified the truck with Hong Kong license plate number MV725 (mainland registration number ZEB64) as a major suspect. The vehicle had already passed through the Huanggang checkpoint in Shenzhen and entered Hong Kong at 7:56 am that morning. Further investigation revealed that the suspected vehicle belonged to a transportation company in Shenzhen, and its driver was identified as Mr. Liang.

At around 4 pm that afternoon, the company contacted the driver, Mr. Liang, and instructed him to quickly return to the Buji police station for handling. Simultaneously,

At 6:50 pm, Mr. Liang drove the truck back to the Buji traffic police station for investigation.

After preliminary questioning, Mr. Liang claimed he was unclear about the accident and stated that when passing through the Tanglang Mountain tunnel on the Nanping Expressway, he noticed something under the right rear wheel of his truck. He then got out of the vehicle, removed the stroller from underneath, and discarded it in the grass by the side of the road before continuing his journey across the border. He said he did not notice any child at the time. Subsequently, the hit-and-run driver, Mr. Liang, was administratively detained for further review.Bedroom Renovation

At around 10 pm that night, the police discovered the blood-stained stroller by the roadside near the Tanglang Mountain tunnel on the Nanping Expressway, but as of 26th midnight, the search team had still not located the child.

Where is the child?

Little Lulin, only four months old, where could he have been thrown? The Shenzhen police searched again along the route taken by the hit-and-run driver.

The police conducted a thorough search along the 40-kilometer stretch from the scene of the accident to the Huanggang checkpoint where the driver crossed into Hong Kong. They eventually found remnants believed to be the remains of little Lulin in a tunnel that the driver must have passed through. After DNA comparison, it was confirmed to be the remains of little Lulin.

The hit-and-run driver, Mr. Liang, aged 28, has been driving trucks for seven or eight years. He said that on the day of the accident, he had already been driving continuously for more than three hours. Before the accident, he just wanted to get home and sleep as soon as possible. When he hit someone, he thought he had merely collided with the guardrail on the side of the road. It wasn't until after traveling over 900 meters and stopping at a traffic light that someone told him there was a baby under his truck. He said, "I seemed to see a baby's arm." As for why he didn't stop, he said, "I felt very scared and wanted to escape."

Mr. Liang confessed that after seeing the situation under the car, he was extremely terrified and fled recklessly. After driving another 20 kilometers, he arrived near a greenbelt, where he removed fragments of the stroller from under the car and threw them into the grass by the roadside in order to smoothly pass through customs and return to Hong Kong. At that moment, he didn't even think about what had happened to the person inside the stroller.Bedroom Renovation

Was it "traffic accident" or "intentional homicide"?

Professor Lu Jianping from Beijing Normal University, a guest on "Today's Law," said, "The circumstances of a traffic accident can be quite complex, and various transformations often occur within it." In this case, when he stopped at a red light after driving more than 900 meters, he was still in the state of a traffic accident. So, where does the driver's liability for the traffic accident end? Professor Lu Jianping believes, "When he stopped at the red light and a passerby reminded him that there was a stroller under his car and the baby's limbs were still visible, if he drove away at that point, his action transformed from a traffic accident into something else."Free Movies

On May 14, 2010, the 20th day after the incident, the Longgang Traffic Police Brigade of the Shenzhen Public Security Bureau made a determination regarding the accident. Driver Mr. Liang was held fully responsible for the traffic accident. Currently, Mr. Liang has been approved for arrest by the Shenzhen People's Procuratorate on suspicion of intentional homicide.
