T-shirt Fabric Selection
Commonly used fabrics for making T-shirts and cultural shirts include: pure cotton, polyester-cotton blend, Lycra, polyester, nylon, etc.
1. Pure Cotton: A commonly used fabric. Of course, there are many types of cotton, with finely spun ones being better. The advantage is good moisture absorption and environmental friendliness, but the disadvantage is that it easily deforms and wrinkles. General characteristics of pure cotton fabrics: Good texture, comfortable wearing experience, environmentally friendly, weight generally between 160 grams and 280 grams. Too thin would be too see-through, and too thick would be suffocating. Generally, choosing between 180-240 grams is best. The yarn count is usually 21, but also 32. Yarn count refers to the thickness of the cotton fiber yarn, the higher the finer and softer. The yarn is divided into regular yarn and fine yarn. Regular yarn fabric surfaces are slightly rougher, while fine yarn fabrics have cleaner surfaces and a softer feel.
2. Polyester-Cotton Blend: This is cotton + polyester, also a commonly used fabric. Common polyester-cotton blends consist of 65% cotton and 35% polyester. It overcomes the disadvantages of pure cotton, such as easy wrinkling and deformation, while maintaining excellent moisture absorption, better than pure cotton. However, comfort during wear is slightly less than pure cotton.
3. Nylon-Cotton Blend: Cotton + nylon: Has all the advantages of cotton, with elasticity and a silk-like feel, comfortable to wear.
4. Lycra Cotton: Cotton + Lycra, this is an elastic fabric, generally more body-fitting, showing off the figure, snug against the skin without feeling constricted due to its elasticity.
Supplement: During warmer autumn days, you can still wear cotton, but for thicker clothes, it's better to use pure cotton since cotton tends to be thinner. When it gets colder, wearing pure polyester can cause static electricity, which can be annoying, so pure cotton is definitely the preferred choice for cold weather. For cotton-polyester blends, the outer fabric is usually cotton, and the lining is polyester, which can easily cause static electricity.
5. Modal:
A new type of eco-friendly material, relatively rare. Its water absorption and sweat-wicking properties are much stronger than cotton, quite excellent, but its downside is that it easily deforms. Currently, it is rarely used. If blended with polyester or Lycra, it performs very well.
6. 100% Polyester:
Suitable for wearing during sports, commonly used functional fabric by ADIDAS and NIKE. It can quickly evaporate sweat, avoiding the heavy sensation of sweating in pure cotton, suitable for sports. Athletes wear polyester rather than cotton.
Price: Generally, when ordering in batches of 1,000 pieces, the price ranges from 12 yuan to 60 yuan per piece (the price varies depending on different styles, fabrics, quantities, printing or embroidery requirements; larger quantities offer better prices). Special fabrics require additional cost calculations.
