WLM and Yahoo! Are officially dual-pass

Once in beta, users will be able to instantly communicate between the two IM services and see each other's online friends, view personal status messages, share emoticons, view offline messages, and add new contacts between the two IM services.

Microsoft and Yahoo said they plan to make all Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo Messenger with Voice users interoperable within the next few months.
