Author of Coral Bug QQ Software in Police Custody, Netizens Hotly Debate Tencent's "Bug Disaster"

A dispute over "IM boss" and individuals has involved countless netizens and industry insiders in a discussion about sentiments, rationality, and law. Soff (Chen Shoufu), the author of the Coral Bug QQ software which is claimed to have 30 million users, was detained by Shenzhen Public Security Bureau on suspicion of infringement, and the website of the most famous third-party QQ software "Coral Bug" was closed down. Afterwards, the two main authors of another third-party QQ software "Piaoyun QQ", "RunJin" and "Crazy Gentleman", both announced their withdrawal from the development of Piaoyun QQ. Senior executives of Tencent denied that the detention of the Coral Bug author had anything to do with Tencent, and also expressed that they hope this move could help the website to "restore its original purity". Tencent's move has achieved the purpose of "making an example of one to warn a hundred", however, the situation of the Coral Bug author has also caused strong reactions among netizens, and some netizens have even set up a support website for Coral Bug.
