Japan Plans to Develop Next-generation Network with 10GB per Second

A Japanese research group is preparing to develop an optical technology to replace the current Internet protocol as the global standard. The group will be composed of the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology department of the Japanese government and some private companies. By 2015, they will develop a commercial network with a claimed transmission speed of 10GB/sec, which will be more than 10 times faster than the new network launched in Japan this year.
