China News Service, Wuhan, December 6 (reported by Ai Qiping) - After the "December 5" explosion accident on the Hubei Xiaogan section of the Jingzhu Expressway, the city of Xiaogan and Xiaonan District in Hubei Province quickly activated their emergency response plans for unexpected incidents. A leadership group was formed to handle post-accident matters, conducting checks on damage situations. Currently, the aftermath handling work is proceeding in a tense but orderly manner.

At 20 minutes past midnight on December 5, a large truck carrying black powder exploded after catching fire while traveling from Jiangxi to Hebei along the Jingzhu Expressway's Hubei Xiaogan section. Four people were confirmed dead at the scene, six others were injured (one critically), and three vehicles were destroyed. The impact of the explosion affected nearby 10 administrative villages, resulting in over 2000 households with varying degrees of house damage, and 29 villagers were injured.

The reporter visited Tu Dian Village and Yue Gang Village in Sancha Town, Xiaonan District, and saw that a large number of residential houses had cracks, tiles had fallen off, and windows and doors were shattered due to the explosion. Local government departments have dispatched personnel to patrol various villages to prevent looting and theft of residents' property. For villagers whose houses are severely damaged and who have no place to stay, the local civil affairs department is distributing tents and other essential living supplies to ensure proper overnight accommodation and living arrangements for the villagers. Xiaonan District has allocated 5 million yuan of special funds and requested the Construction Bureau to organize professional technical personnel to quickly appraise the damaged houses.

After the explosion accident, the 120 emergency vehicles from Xiaogan No.1 People's Hospital rushed to the scene and transported the injured in batches to the hospital for treatment. Most of the injuries were caused by explosive fragments. Currently, the conditions of the injured are stable with no life-threatening danger. Additionally, two critically injured patients are being treated at the Aerospace Hospital, and one critically injured patient has been transferred to another hospital for treatment.
