Tencent's involvement in the development of input methods will change the current landscape of Pinyin input methods. Google and Sogou are heavily investing in the development of Pinyin input methods (comparison of functions between Sogou Pinyin Input Method and Google Pinyin Input Method). Their aim is to better understand user input habits and search content by introducing their own input methods, which can then be used to optimize and improve their search engine products. Perhaps they won't admit to collecting user information, but in fact, "supporting network accounts" essentially means incorporating the input habits of most users into the word database of the input method. It has been reported that Inventec may collaborate with Baidu to develop a multi-language input method; it is unclear whether this includes a Pinyin input method. Tencent does not primarily focus on search engines, yet it is now developing an input method - what is its intention? It's still too early to speculate at this point, so let's wait and see.
