Standard car washing steps - Oulipai Lijie

The standardized car washing procedure should include four steps: rinsing, scrubbing, cleaning and drying. Usually, two people (for the sake of convenience in narration, we call them Person A and Person B) work together to coordinate the car wash process, which not only speeds up the operation but also ensures a better quality of cleaning...

1. Rinsing ... Before the vehicle enters the workshop, Person A and Person B should proactively approach the vehicle, with one person guiding at the front and the other following at the rear, appropriately reminding the car owner to turn the wheel. After the vehicle is parked steadily and the owner has left the car, Person A and Person B simultaneously remove the floor mats from either side. Then, Person A uses a high-pressure washer to rinse dirt off the body of the car from top to bottom. Throughout this process, water is always sprayed from one direction diagonally down to the other side, avoiding direct or reverse flushing as much as possible to prevent mud and sand from being washed back onto areas that have already been cleaned...

Areas that cannot be ignored during the rinsing process are the lower part of the body and the bottom of the car, because large amounts of mud and dirt generally accumulate in these areas. If there's any carelessness, it could leave behind sand and dirt, which would scratch the paint during the next step of scrubbing. Therefore, it's necessary to thoroughly rinse away large particles of sand and mud from the lower part of the car and the bottom. Simultaneously, while Person A is rinsing the car, Person B should use a large fiber soft bristle brush to scrub the floor mat. It should be noted that if the floor mat is made of rubber instead of velvet, it can be placed aside and the interior components wiped first with a semi-wet small towel, then washed and dried on a rack after the rinsing process is complete. This step usually takes 2-3 minutes. The quality standard for rinsing the car is: the entire body is wetted by the high-pressure water gun without omission, and the car paint surface has no large particles of sand or dirt to ensure the smooth progress of the above steps.

2. Scrubbing ... Person B prepares and supplies the car wash liquid. If a car wash machine that automatically draws car wash liquid is not used, Person B should prepare the car wash liquid manually before the previous step of rinsing ends and get ready with the scrubbing tools. Then, Person A evenly sprays it over the surface of the car body. When Person A has sprayed about half of the car wash liquid, Person B should stop supplying more because the remaining car wash liquid in the hose is sufficient to spray the rest of the car. At this point, Person B begins preparing the scrubbing tools. After the car wash liquid is sprayed, Person A and Person B each hold a large sponge, one on the left and one on the right, scrubbing the car body in an "S" shape from top to bottom. The quality standard for scrubbing is: no omissions, no scratches on the car paint.

3. Cleaning ... After the scrubbing is finished, Person A begins to clean the car body in the same order as the rinsing process, but with a focus on the roof, upper and middle parts. Since the lower part of the car has already been cleaned relatively well and scrubbed during the rinsing process, the main purpose now is: when cleaning the parts above the middle, the water flowing downwards basically cleans the lower and bottom parts, so the lower and bottom parts can be passed over quickly. While Person A is cleaning the car body, Person B enters the car and wipes the interior components with a semi-wet small towel. It should be noted that throughout the car washing process, Person B is the assistant, mainly coordinating with Person A. So whether or not the current task is completed, Person B should stop and prepare the necessary car drying tools, such as semi-wet large towels and chamois leather, before Person A proceeds to the next step. The quality standard for cleaning is: no mud or dirt on the car body, no omissions.

4. Drying ... Person A and Person B each use a semi-wet large towel to pre-dry the entire car body from front to back. After some time, Person B wrings out the towel and hands it to Person A. After most of the water on the middle and lower parts of the car body has been absorbed, Person B uses the chamois leather to finely dry the areas pre-dried by Person A, requiring all water marks to be removed. After Person A finishes pre-drying, he/she reverses the process and uses the chamois leather to remove residual water from the corners scrubbed by Person B. After "one towel pass, two chamois passes", the car body should have no water marks and be very clean. After Person B dries with the chamois leather, they should take out two towels, one dry and one wet, using the semi-wet towel to clean the mud and sand from the edges of the car doors, engine hood, trunk edges, and inside the fuel cap, then using the dry towel to dry the water marks left previously. After Person A finishes drying with the chamois leather, they use a vacuum cleaner to clean the dust (from the dashboard, seat gaps, and carpet) from top to bottom, empty the ashtray, and place the foot mat properly. Then, Person B uses a semi-wet towel and polishing cloth to wipe the glass, and uses a semi-wet towel to dry the hubcaps and car bottom (towels used for wiping the interior and glass should be separated from those used for wiping door edges, the bottom of the car body, and hubcaps). Finally, Person A begins inspecting the car, paying particular attention to checking parts easily overlooked in the car washing process, such as the edges and inner sides of the engine hood, the inner sides of the car doors, the inner sides of the door handles, the inner sides of the trunk edges, the inner sides of the fuel cap, the bottom of the car body, alloy bells, tires, and exhaust pipes. Before handing over the car, remember to spray some perfume or air freshener into the car, which will make the car owner feel more satisfied.

Inspection standards: External decorations should be free of dust, dirt, and water marks; the glass should be bright and new without scratches; interior components should be free of dust, the interior should have no unpleasant odors, and the seats and foot mats should be neatly arranged.
