The agrarian-salaried class has money at hand for urgent use. Large-scale investment projects are the gateway to creating wealth.

In Beijing, there are a considerable number of people who have 300,000 to 500,000 yuan in liquid funds but are still eager to find ways to get rich. The second Foreign Large-Scale Investment Project Entrepreneurship Cooperation Negotiation Conference held recently has opened the door to successful investment and wealth creation for them. This exhibition was jointly organized by China Business News, CCTV-7 'Wealth Creation Journey', and Beijing Lianjia Exhibition. Among the participating projects were well-known chain brands such as Quanjia, Jialun Ge, Yonghe Soybean Milk, Rongchang Yilisa, Kodak, and Lianhua Express, as well as high-tech investment hotspots in biotechnology, medicine, education, and the Internet, totaling more than 400 projects. Over the three days of the event, it attracted 54,000 large investors from outside.

Producing a door for 70 yuan

Anyone who has experience in construction in Nanjing knows that the market price for a European-style outdoor door is at least 700 to 800 yuan. At this exhibition, one exhibitor caught the attention of many investors with a technology that allows producing indoor doors of similar quality for only 70 yuan.

This exhibitor told reporters that the indoor doors produced using his technology look, feel, and weigh almost the same as traditional wooden doors, but their raw material is magnesium oxide, commonly known as "stone powder," which is very cheap. Currently, the market price of "stone powder" is about 200 yuan per ton, and one ton of "stone powder" can produce around 100 "stone powder doors." Adding various auxiliary materials, the cost of a bare door is 30 yuan, and after painting, the cost is no more than about 70 yuan.

The exhibitor said that this technology can not only produce residential indoor doors but also stair railings and furniture. Their lifespan and strength differ significantly from products made using traditional carpentry techniques, and no formaldehyde or benzene has been detected. The initial investment for this project is only 50,000 yuan. Investors do not need to purchase equipment; they just need to mix the base material according to the formula and pour it into molds to form.

Laundry shops remain popular

Opening a store near one's home is a dream for many people. Since laundry shops are close to daily life, they easily attract interest. At this exhibition, the chain laundry shop project didn't last long, and reporters learned some essential knowledge about joining this industry from a local brand laundry chain commonly seen on the streets of Nanjing.

Mr. Zhang, an exhibitor, told reporters that their laundry shop brand belongs to the mid-to-high-end segment, so the initial investment amount for investors needs to be between 300,000 and 400,000 yuan. He believes that choosing a mid-to-high-end brand has the advantage of stable equipment operation and fewer maintenance issues later on. Generally speaking, this brand can recover its investment in two and a half years, and the annual net income afterward can reach around 150,000 yuan.

The price of the same brand of laundry shop can vary, mainly due to differences in rent among stores. For example, Mr. Zhang's chain store located in Beijing's Oriental Plaza charges 32 to 35 yuan per set of women's suits, while stores located in communities charge only 25 yuan per set. Mr. Zhang stated that rent costs account for about 60% of total costs, labor and agricultural supplies account for 30%, and water, electricity, detergent, hangers, bags, and other laundry consumables make up only 10%. In Nanjing, the biggest challenge in opening a laundry shop is selecting a location. Many ideal spots are reserved by investors within half a year after the completion of housing developments. One important task of laundry shop franchisees is to help investors select locations.

Herbal investments have some mystique

Not all attendees at this exhibition are wealthy individuals with idle funds. Among them, many are looking for projects that require little effort but allow their capital to appreciate slightly. Mr. Zhao, who does building materials business in Beijing, is one such person. He told reporters that he has developed a strong interest in a herb cultivation exhibitor.

This kind of herbal investment is somewhat similar to tree planting investment, but the time cycle is shorter, about three years, and the herb being cultivated is licorice. According to the example provided in the exhibitor's promotional materials: Mr. Wang, 50 years old, invested 55,600 yuan in this project. Three years later, the market selling price of licorice was 16 yuan per catty, and Mr. Wang's final earnings were: 1. A total of 80,000 yuan in floating income. 2. Dividend income of 28,800 yuan, totaling 108,800 yuan.

The exhibitor said that currently, there is a shortage of licorice resources, and the market price is 14 to 16 yuan per catty. Moreover, the factory has already signed a guaranteed purchase contract with a pharmaceutical company for three years' worth of licorice raw materials. However, upon closer inspection, cultivating licorice no longer has any technical barriers, and whether the market price will remain at the current level in three years is uncertain. Additionally, the pharmaceutical company that is supposed to buy the licorice cannot be traced, making this guaranteed purchase contract essentially worthless.
