The reporter learned from the Jiangsu Provincial Communications Administration that on August 18th, the eight-digit fixed telephone numbers in eight prefecture-level cities in Jiangsu Province will be upgraded from seven to eight digits. By then, Jiangsu will become the first province in the country to say goodbye to the "seven-digit" telephone number. There are a total of 13 prefecture-level cities in Jiangsu Province, and previously, the fixed telephone numbers in five cities in Jiangsu Province - Nanjing, Wuxi, Suzhou, Nantong, and Xuzhou - have been upgraded to eight digits. It is understood that the "crown head method" will be used for this upgrade, uniformly adding "8" before the original seven-digit fixed user numbers.
