According to information from the Roadside Press, media mogul Murdoch stated that in order to encourage internet users to pay for reading articles on News Corporation's websites, he plans to delete news articles related to publications under his group from Google search indexes.
The Guardian reported yesterday that during an interview with Australia's Sky Television, Murdoch mentioned that News Corporation's UK publications such as The Daily, The Times, and The Sun would consider fully blocking Google searches of these publications' news content after implementing online subscription plans. Although he had announced earlier in the summer that subscription plans would be implemented by the end of next year for all websites under his corporation, he admitted that the subscription plan might not proceed on schedule. Regarding search engines using the "fair use" regulation as legal justification to reprint online news excerpts, Murdoch expressed his disagreement, pointing out that some people arbitrarily steal articles from News Corporation, directly referring to Google, indeed naming Google outright.
