A new report shows that it's very hard to access the Internet in Kazakhstan, a poor and dictatorial country. The majority of online users (4% of the total population) access the network through the state-owned Kazakhtelecom. In this country where the average monthly income per resident is only 399 US dollars, the cost of unlimited dial-up Internet access is 111 US dollars per month. As for DSL access, the cost for a 1.5Mbps cap reaches 3355 US dollars per month. If you want 6Mbps access, the cost will reach 22,032 US dollars per month. These Internet access costs are 1000 times higher compared to Western Europe.
