The news that Mozilla is going to abandon Thunderbird has greatly surprised its fans. Now Google stands on the edge again. A PCWorld message from a netizen named Vaughn Reid pointed out in Mitchell Baker’s (Mozilla CEO) Blog that Mozilla's decision to give up developing Thunderbird has something to do with Google’s intention to promote the web-based application of Gmail. He said, "As Google is the main sponsor of Mozilla Foundation and Google is actively developing and providing enterprise-level E-mail systems through Gmail and Google Apps, they might want to kill or prevent the development of Thunderbird so as to direct Outlook users towards Google rather than Thunderbird."
