Taobao's independent search engine (taobaoseo.net) officially launched its beta version today. This is one of the key measures taken after Taobao blocked Baidu searches, and industry insiders believe that Taobao will further consolidate its market position through this move.

The current independent search page of Taobao adopts a simple style similar to Google and Baidu. According to search result tests, the search results provided by this search engine are still based on Taobao data. However, an insider from Taobao pointed out that there is no exclusion of the possibility of doing full-network open searches in the future.

Sina Tech compared the search results of a certain product on the Taobao homepage and the independent search page, and found that the display page of the independent search results was more concise. The recommendation position of Taobao Mall under the product search results on the Taobao homepage was removed on the independent search page. In addition to displaying basic information such as store information, photos, location, price, and warranty on the independent search results page, sales volume and credit information were also added, and sorting from large to small was possible.

According to insiders, Taobao's independent search engine project began research and development a year ago and recruited a large number of talents.

There were rumors before that Taobao would co-build a search platform with Microsoft, Google, etc., but Taobao denied it and stated that currently Taobao completely uses its own search technology. Last September, Taobao officially announced blocking Baidu searches, while NetEase Youdao and Google also separately launched shopping searches.
