Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the founder of the Web, admitted that the two slants after http: in the Internet address were unnecessary. He told The Times of Britain that he could have easily found a way without using the two slants then. Internet users often complained about repeatedly inputting the two slants. Sir Tim Berners-Lee said that he didn't expect the lines would cause so much trouble later when designing the Internet 30 years ago. He apologized humorously from the perspective of environmental protection and said that he had no idea how much time, printing ink and paper had been wasted because of the two slants.
