Some information about the "male and female protagonists" was revealed in the follow-up posts. Some netizens even created a parody post titled "Summer Blockbuster of 2009 —— Xingtan Gate (also translated as Dongcun Video) Review."

What are the identities of the male and female parties in the video? A tipster told the reporter that both the "male and female protagonists" are from Xingtan and attended a certain middle school together during their junior high years. The "male protagonist" has dropped out of school, while the "female protagonist" went on to high school. Meanwhile, many netizens commented that they had already seen the video before.
