Tencent is increasingly focusing on enterprise informatization services. From its original Tencent RTX, to Tencent Business QQ, it directly serves government and enterprise customers. Recently, they have launched a new email service: domain email.
What exactly is this? Simply put, it leverages the existing QQ Mail service and adds custom domain email functionality. For example, if your QQ Mail address is [email protected], after using the domain email service, you can have your own domain email, such as XXX@yourdomain. Custom domain email has various names in the industry. Tencent calls it domain email, Microsoft refers to it as Domains service. Sogou also offers something similar called Free Enterprise Email. Google provides a suite of business applications. The general term used in the industry is enterprise email or corporate mail. Frankly speaking, calling it domain email makes it sound a bit amateurish and foreign.
So, this isn't anything particularly novel. What's interesting is that Tencent has opened up its free email service, allowing anyone to point a domain to it and enjoy free email services with their own domain. No one knows when Tencent might start charging after collecting a large number of domains, locking enterprises into their email service.
Personally, I prefer Microsoft's Domains service. Your custom domain email can use the 250GB of free email storage provided by Live Mail, supporting up to 500 free accounts. Additionally, your email address doubles as your Windows Live ID, allowing you to log into MSN, access 250GB of Live Drive, Live Albums, and all other online services, which is very convenient.
To use Tencent's domain email service, you must first have a domain name. It could be .com, .net, .cn, or any other type. Then register for the domain email service. If your QQ Mail level reaches 8, you can register directly. Otherwise, log into your QQ Mail account, go to the QQ Mail settings - Experience Room to activate the domain email permission. Next:
Then, follow the instructions to complete the domain verification and MX mail record parsing, and you're done.
According to the official explanation, domain email (domain.mail.qq.com) is a personalized email service offered by Tencent. If you own a domain name, you just need to make simple settings to create an email address with your domain as the suffix. It features the following characteristics:
Customizable favorite account names and email logo patterns
The account names for the domain emails you create can be freely designated, without worrying about your preferred username being registered by others. Even the email logo pattern can be changed at will.
Possess up to 10 email addresses under the same domain
After successfully creating the domain email, you can create multiple accounts under the same domain and share them with your friends.
Group function
You can group the accounts in your domain email, making mass mailing more convenient.
The entire process is relatively simple. If you have a domain name and don't mind the possibility of Tencent suddenly stopping the service one day, then give it a try.
