Two legendary figures in the tech industry — Bill Gates, chairman of Microsoft, and Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple — came together historically on Wednesday to jointly attend the "D: All Things Digital" event hosted by The Wall Street Journal.
Gates and Jobs began by exchanging greetings and praising each other for their significant contributions to the development of the technology industry. Jobs said, "Bill built the first truly meaningful software company in the entire industry; he recognized the importance of software earlier than anyone else." In response, Gates lavishly praised Jobs for his willingness to take risks and develop incredibly stylish products. "The work that Steve has done is truly remarkable."
The two tech titans were interviewed for 90 minutes by Walt Mossberg, a columnist for The Wall Street Journal, and tech journalist Kara Swisher. During this interview, Gates and Jobs reflected on their early collaboration in the 1970s and shared their thoughts on the current and future landscape of technology. When Swisher asked if there had been any misunderstandings between them, Jobs jokingly replied, "More than ten years ago, Bill and I got married, and this secret has been kept until now." Gates added, "Overall, we don't have anything to complain about with each other."
